A few moms and I got together and started an English-speaking playgroup so that our kids can play with other kids in English as well. We will be meeting every Monday and doing some activities, crafts, and games to entertain the children. Alexander, and I missed the first meeting because A and I had just gotten home from the hospital so Philipp took Isabella so that she wouldn't miss out. That week was an informal meet-and-greet so there were no crafts or activities.
But this week we met at our house and I got on Pinterest and found some inspiration from this crafty woman and this one as well. I decided to do a combination of both of their crafts and made some examples while Alexander slept so that the kids could copy them. I made template ears and ear insides and traced off enough ears and ear insides for 9 children. We ended up with 5 children but I see a future for those remaining ears in a Native American headdress....
All of the kids had a blast using glitter paint pens and glue. We used thick construction paper for the ears with colored paper for the inside of the ears. The masks are paper plates with the insides cut out and the bunny faces had jewels for eyes and pipecleaners for whiskers. The borders of the masks/faces were made from cotton balls glued on with bricolage glue. The kids got more creative than me and decorated the ears and faces with lots of glitter paint and jewels. The finished products looked really cute and I think the kids had a great time! First group craft for me to organize and I really enjoyed it. :) And I'm making progress on having more fun activities for Isabella.
My creations are the two on the bottom and the more decorative one at the top is Isabella's. I'm going to try for better pictures next time.
